Rubber Roof Membrane and Color

People often wonder why a rubber roof membrane is necessary. The answer is to help prevent debris, dirt, and even plants from collecting and growing on the top of your outdoor cooler or freezer unit. If your cooler or freezer is indoors, a rubber roof membrane is not necessary.

This brings us to our next topic, color. People often notice that most rubber roof membranes are white. Why is this? White is chosen due to its light reflecting properties. White does a great job at deflecting heat, which would work against your cooler or freezer. When purchasing a rubber roof membrane for your walk in cooler or freezer, be sure to get it in white.

Replacing Walk In Cooler Door Gasket

The components that make up your walk in cooler or freezer are all very important, including your door gasket. That is why it is very important to make sure that your walk in cooler or freezer is constructed using high quality gaskets so that your panels form a tight seal.

When choosing a door gasket, make sure that it’s a good fit for your door. Many people assume that all door gaskets are the same and are a universal fit. This is simply not the case. Most walk in cooler and freezer doors are sold with door gaskets that were carefully chosen for that particular door. This means that the door fit, size, offset, and style were all taken into account when selecting a proper gasket.

Next, consider how your existing gasket mounts. Door gaskets mount in a variety of different ways whether it be tack-on, self adhesive, or magnetic just to name a few. How your door gasket mounts is very important in choosing a replacement. It’s also a very good idea to look for any identification numbers on your existing door gasket. If you’re lucky enough to have an existing door gasket labeled with a part number, than finding a replacement will be simple.

Be sure to also consider your existing door gasket’s measurements. This includes length, width, and thickness. When calling to order a new door gasket, you will more than likely be asked for those specific dimensions. This is to ensure that your new door gasket will fit your application.

If you’re in the market for a new door gasket, give American Cooler Technologies a call. We stock door gasket material and if we don’t have exactly what you’re looking for in stock, we will do our best to locate it for you. What to Look for in Walk In Freezer Panels

When looking for a new walk in freezer, it’s important to make sure your freezer is constructed of high quality walk in freezer panels. Walk in freezer panels are constructed in many different ways using many different types of materials and insulations. The following article will focus on what to look for when searching for walk in freezer panels, to help you make an informed decision that you will be happy with for years to come.

Walk In Freezer Panels

Walk In Freezer Panels

Walk in freezer panels are not all the same. Many people assume that all walk in coolers and freezers are the same and simply look at overall cost as a determining factor. However, this can lead to a disappointed buyer if they don’t do their homework. When buying walk in freezer panels, be absolutely sure to look for polyurethane insulation. Polyurethane insulation provides a better R-value than extruded polystyrene while also being more durable. Also, be sure to look for wood frame construction. Wood frame construction allows your cam lock to be anchored in to actual wood and not just anchored in foam. Cam locks anchored in foam can pull loose, making it nearly impossible to seal your walk in freezer panels. On top of providing an anchor for cam locks, wood frame construction is also more durable and will allow your walk in freezer panels to stand up to punishment better than an all foam box.

Next, make sure that your walk in freezer panels are made using high quality finish. At American Cooler Technologies, we use 26 gauge embossed galvanized as our standard finish. We do this for 2 reasons, one being it is a durable, nice looking finish. The embossed finish also helps hide dents and dings that your walk in freezer panels are likely to encounter over it’s life.

If you’re in the market for a walk in cooler or walk in freezer, give American Cooler Technologies a call. We’d be more than happy to assist you on your next project. Thank you for reading and be sure to check back next week for a new blog!

Searching for a Display Freezer?

When it comes to businesses such as convenience stores, many items are essential to the profitability of the business, such is the case with a display freezer. A display freezer can usually be found in most convenience stores and other businesses where frozen foods are sold. The following article will go on to highlight what to look for in a display freezer.

When shopping for a display freezer, two key features are very important. First, make sure to purchase a display freezer that is built using polyurethane insulation. When compared to extruded polystyrene, polyurethane provides a higher R-value while also being more durable. Extruded polystyrene is the same pink foam board that you can find at any home improvement store. Polyurethane on the other hand is an actual two-part compound that is mixed together as it’s shot into the panel. This then hardens and also acts as an adhesive to better hold down the metal your display freezer panels are clad with.

Next, be sure to look for a display freezer that is built using wood frame construction. Wood frame construction provides a very solid frame for your display freezer that will allow it to stand up to the daily abuse it will receive from customers and vendors. Your display freezer will be used constantly and will have people grabbing products from it several times per day, you want to make sure it can withstand this constant use. With wood frame construction, you can rest easy knowing that your display freezer will be around for years to come.

When it comes to refrigeration equipment and glass doors, make sure that you’re buying from a company that sells quality components. Make sure that the condenser, coil(s), and glass display doors that come with the unit are made by reputable companies. After all, you’re investing a lot of money into your display freezer so it’s important to fully understand what you’re being quoted.

If you’re in the market for a display freezer, give American Cooler Technologies a call. We’d be happy to assist you on your hunt for a new display freezer, as well as any other walk in cooler or freezer needs. Thank you for reading and be sure to check back next week for a new blog post!

Do You Need Anti-Condensate Heaters On Your Glass Doors?

Many people often wonder if anti-condensate heaters are necessary on their glass doors. The answer can vary greatly depending on your location. If you live in a hot, humid environment such as Florida, than anti-condensate heaters are a must. However, if you live in a northern climate where it remains cooler and with less humidity, they may not be necessary, especially if you have your cooler in an air conditioned building.

Speaking of air conditioning, if you have a walk in cooler with non-heated glass doors, it’s very important that you run your air conditioning in the hot summer months to keep your doors from fogging. Turning your air conditioning off at night can lead to foggy doors in the morning, which will take time to de-fog as you turn your air conditioning back on and wait for the room to cool down.

What to Look For in a Commercial Beverage Cooler

Are you in search of a commercial beverage cooler? If so, there are some key points to look for before making your purchase. The following article will go on to highlight these key points in an effort to make sure you make the right purchase.

commercial beverage cooler

commercial beverage cooler

A commercial beverage cooler is a large investment, and a purchase that should be made after a great deal of research. After all, you don’t want to regret your purchase a few months down the road and be stuck with an expensive unit that doesn’t fit your desired needs. With that being said, the first thing to look for when purchasing a commercial beverage cooler is the company you’re buying from. It is always best to deal directly with the manufacturer of your commercial beverage cooler. The manufacturer knows the most about their product and will be able to answer your specific questions that relate to your specific needs. Many companies out there advertise like they’re an actual manufacturer, but many in fact, are not. Be sure to find out if you’re dealing directly with the manufacturer when you’re buying your next commercial beverage cooler, or any walk in cooler or freezer.

Next, make sure to find out what type of insulation is being used and how the commercial beverage cooler is constructed. Look for polyurethane insulation instead of polystyrene. Polyurethane offers a superior R-value while also being more durable when compared to polystyrene. Also look for wood frame construction. Wood frame construction makes the commercial beverage cooler extremely sturdy, and far more likely to stand up to daily abuse than an “all foam” box. Also, when you purchase a wood framed commercial beverage cooler, you have the peace of mind of knowing that your cam locks are mounted into wood and not “anchored” into foam, which can cause your cam locks to pull loose.

Last but not least, be aware of what you’re getting. Many cooler and freezer companies out there aren’t specific on their quotes and don’t let you know what your unit will consist of when it comes to hardware and refrigeration equipment. Be sure to find out what brand of refrigeration equipment you’re being quoted, what size it is, and whether or not this will be sufficient for your product load. Many companies do not ask what your product load is, and simply quote you a refrigeration system based on your box size, which is only part of the equation.

If you’re looking for a commercial beverage cooler, please give American Cooler Technologies a call. Our friendly and experienced sales team is dedicated to providing the best possible service available. Coupled with our in-house engineering team, you can rest easy knowing your next project is in good hands. Thank you for reading and check back next week for a new blog post!

Do You Need Anti Condensation Heaters in Your Glass Doors?

If you have a walk in cooler with glass doors, you may be wondering if you need anti condensation heaters in your doors. The answer to this question can vary greatly depending on many factors. The following article will go on to highlight these important factors.

anti condensation heaters

anti condensation heaters

Anti condensate heaters are often needed in areas that have high relative humidity. These types of areas include states like Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, just to name a few. Anti condensate heaters are almost always recommended in these areas due to humidity levels alone.

You might be thinking “well, if I don’t live in these areas, than I don’t need anti condensate heaters in my doors”. This is not always the case. If you have a cooler in a building that is not air conditioned, you can have condensation issues during the summer months. If you do not have an air conditioning system in your building, or if you have one but don’t often run it, than anti condensation heaters are strongly recommended.

Next, lets examine how product can affect whether or not you need anti condensation heaters. If you’re putting warm product into your cooler, condensation will form without question. This often happens with people in restaurants or bakeries that might be placing warm food into their walk in coolers. If this applies to you, than anti condensation heaters are going to be necessary if you’re going to have glass doors.

Now, on the other hand. If you live in an area that isn’t vary humid, you run your air conditioning system frequently and maintain a comfortable temperature inside your building, and aren’t placing warm product in your cooler than you’re probably fine with non-heated glass doors. This will save you some money on your initial purchase.

If you’re looking for information on walk in coolers or freezers, give American Cooler Technologies a call. We would be happy to assist you on your next project. As always, thank you for reading and check back next week for an updated blog and walk in cooler news.

Industrial Light Fixtures for your Walk In Cooler or Freezer

When looking for lighting for your new walk in cooler, make sure that you choose industrial light fixtures. Industrial light fixtures have many advantages to standard light fixtures that aren’t suitable for your walk in cooler or freezer. The following article will go on to highlight these advantages.

Industrial light fixtures offer more durability over their standard counterparts. A walk in cooler or freezer sees a lot of use and has a lot of product brought into it over time. Should the light fixture ever be bumped into or hit with an object, you don’t want it breaking. Industrial light fixtures have the added benefit of being extremely durable, and can better stand up to the punishment that may be inflicted upon them over time.

Industrial light fixtures that are designed for walk in coolers and freezers are actually built for low temperatures. A standard light fixture inside a walk in cooler or freezer will not operate correctly, if at all. This is due to the lower temperatures making it difficult for standard light fixtures. This is especially true when using fluorescent light fixtures. If you’re using fluorescent light fixtures in your walk in cooler or freezer, make absolutely sure that they are industrial light fixtures rated for low temperatures. Standard fluorescent fixtures do not have the low temperature rated starters or ballasts and will NOT work in your unit.

Industrial light fixtures for walk in coolers and freezers are now being manufactured in LED formats. This is a great upgrade as it will allow for a significant decrease in energy consumption, while also allowing you to use a bulb that has a long lifespan and doesn’t emit heat. If you’re in the market for new industrial light fixtures, perhaps you should look into LED’s!

If you’re looking to purchase industrial light fixtures, check out American Cooler Technologies “Spare Parts” page. We have a wide variety of replacement parts, along with several industrial light fixtures to choose from. Our friendly and knowledgeable sales team would be happy to assist you with your next project. Thank you for reading and be sure to check back next week for a new blog!

Do You Need a Walk In Freezer Floor?

“Do I need a walk in freezer floor?” is a question that is asked quite often. The answer to this question can vary and depends on your current situation. The following article will go on to highlight what to keep in mind when deciding if you are going to need a walk in freezer floor.

Walk in freezer floors are required any time your walk in freezer is sitting on a surface that isn’t concrete. Even if your unit is sitting on a concrete pad, the concrete pad MUST be insulated. Many of you are probably wondering “why can’t I just place my walk in freezer on my standard concrete pad, does it really need to be insulated?”. The answer to that question is a resounding “YES”. If you place your walk in freezer on an uninsulated concrete pad, the concrete will crack and break over time due to the extremely low temperatures. This is why a walk in freezer floor should be built for you by the factory.

Walk in freezer floors are typically covered in a smooth finish. This is done to allow easy clean up on a non-textured surface. This is especially important in a restaurant application as you always want to have surfaces that are easy to clean and will help you pass your health inspections. Some people choose to cover their walk in freezer floor in diamond tread plate, which is very durable and provides good traction, just keep in mind that it can be difficult to clean at times, especially with frozen food stuck to it.

If you’re in the market for a walk in cooler or freezer, please give us at American Cooler technologies a call. Our friendly and knowledgeable sales team will be happy to assist you with your next project. Thank you for reading and check back next week for an update blog!
